Fun Facts:

  • It is said that Rush suggested the title for Thomas Paine's hugely influential pamphlet, Common Sense.

  • Like the majority of the signers from Pennsylvania, Rush was not a member of the Continental Congress on July 2nd, and therefore didn't have an opportunity to vote on it. He was elected and joined Congress in the weeks between the vote and the signing on August 2nd.
