  • Gerry's name lives on for the practice of gerrymandering - manipulating district boundaries to create partisan advantage.

  • Gerry died in office in 1814 as the Vice President. He was so poor at the time that Congress was forced to pay for his burial. This explains why his interred in Washington, DC instead of his home state.
