Fun Facts:

  • In June of 1776 Morris took a leave from the Continental Congress to serve in the Continental Army, and thus missed the vote on July 2nd. He signed the Declaration in September when he returned to Congress.

  • Morris was a very wealthy man, who live on a fine estate. The area has not fared well in the centuries since. The Morrisania neighborhod in the Bronx is one of the poorest in the country.
