Fun Facts:

  • Though he was strongly in favor of independence, Chase was at home in Maryland on July 2nd when the vote on the Declaration took place. He was on hand to sign on August 2nd with the majority of the Congress.

  • Chase was later a Supreme Court Justice, and holds the disticntion of being the only Justice ever impeached. He was later acquitted.
